| This study evaluated body fat, protein and energy contents and nutritional requirements for body weight (BW) gain of lambs in tropical semiarid conditions. Thirty-two castrated Santa Inês 3-to-4-month old lambs (initial BW: 15.8 kg ± 1.4 kg) were used. Eight lambs were initially slaughtered to serve as the reference for initial body weight composition. The remaining 24 animals were placed in a randomized block with three treatments and eight replications. | Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito da suplementação na composição tecidual e química da perna e do lombo de ovinos Santa Inês terminados em pastejo. Foram utilizados 24 ovinos castrados, com peso vivo médio (PV) de 15,8 kg e 3 a 4 meses de idade, distribuídos em três níveis de suplementação com concentrado (0; 1,0 e 1,5% do PV), num delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com três tratamentos e oito repetições. A perna e o lombo foram dissecados em músculo, ossos e gordura, para determinação da composição tecidual, e a carne foi utilizada na determinação da composição química. | Conduziu-se o estudo do perfil metabólico, com o objetivo de avaliar o estado nutricional ou possíveis distúrbios metabólicos que podem comprometer a saúde e, consequentemente, o desempenho do rebanho. No presente trabalho foi avaliado o perfil metabólico de cabras em lactação, submetidas a dietas com diferentes fontes de lipídios. Foram utilizadas 16 cabras da raça Saanen com peso vivo médio de 35 Kg e produção média diária de 1,2 kg de leite, distribuídas em quadrado latino com três repetições. | Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da suplementação nas características de carcaça de cabritos F1 Boer × SRD terminados em pastagem nativa. Foram utilizados 24 caprinos F1 Boer × SRD, não-castrados, com 120 dias de idade e com peso vivo inicial de 15,52 kg. Os animais foram identificados, vermifugados e distribuídos de forma aleatória em quatro níveis de suplementação (0,0; 0,5; 1,0 e 1,5%), perfazendo seis repetições por tratamento. | The present study aimed to assess the effect of supplementation on the performance of F1 (Boer × females of no defined breed) goats finished in native pasture. The experiment was conducted at the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, Patos Campus, Paraíba, Brazil, with twenty-four 120-day-old non-castrated F1 (Boer × NDB) male goats, with a 15.52 kg live weight (LW). | ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the buriti oil (Mauritia flexuosa L.) inclusion levels (0, 15, 30, and 45 g kg−1 in dry matter) replacing ground corn on the feeding behavior, as well as physiological and hematological variables of crossbred lactating Anglo Nubian goats. Eight Anglo Nubian goats were used, which were distributed in a double 4 × 4 Latin square experimental design (four periods and four levels of buriti oil) replacing corn in the total dry matter. | It was evaluated four levels of silk flower (Calotropis procera S.W.) hay (SFH) as a substitute of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) hay (SBH) in diet for lambs. Nutritional value of silk-flower hay was determined based on aparent digestibility and on metabolic, productive and economical performance of Santa Inês lambs. | The objective of this study was to estimate tissue composition of the carcass from physical composition of commercial cuts of F1 crossbred goats (Boer with females of non-defined racial standard) finished on native pasture with four levels of supplementation with concentrate (0.0; 0.5; 1.0 and 1.5% of BW in dry matter).
